  • strange that it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't... i hate to insult your intelligence but is the volume down on the program that is trying to play sound? An external drive wouldn't interfere with sound, but maybe if you know what kind of sound card you have you could reinstall the drivers for it. I know your not too good with computers but the program at driverguidetoolkit.com will tell you what kind of sound card you have and you can find the drivers on google. Other problems might include a shitty wire connecting the speakers to the computer, or even a shitty connection on the back of the computer. The fluctuating sound definetely could be a symptom of a bad wire connecting the speakers.
  • the volume is good. thanks for the advice and the guidence!!

    How about your power supply...?
Is it enough to handle all of the peripherals on top of all the hardware inside?
The fluctuation could also come frome the fact that your audio-device isn't allways getting the power it needs.
Does your computer's performance drop sometimes too?

are you listening to songs that are stored on the external drive? what kind of connection does your external drive have (usb 1.1, usb 2.0, firewire)?
