Regional Areas???

Just wonder if the idea of regional areas have ever been brought up so that all the fans in those areas can talk to eachother and get to know one another better???

why not just talk to everyone from all over the world? that's what i love about the internet, makes the world smaller. i love how many people i get to talk to regularly here from all over, and have made so many friends from various different countries..it's a beautiful thing. so i am uncertain exactly what advantage there is to having regional areas? or do you mean simply so people can see who is from their area, possibly arrange meet-ups, etc? it's still very doable w/o creating new forums for such, many of us have done it...although it's always nice to welcome more in.
