Regardless of price, what is the best mp3 player out there to have in your opinion and why?

I'm getting myself an ipod 80GB and I want to see what people think and whether there's better ones out there. I don't care paying extra if it's worth it;)

My vote is for the iPod. I have 2 and love them. I've had Rio's and Zen's but the iTunes/iPod combo is the way to go.

Yeah that's what's making me stick with the ipod. ITunes. So handy to be able to just hook it up when I get it and have them all go on it instead of any messing around.

iPod is really the best one, believe me.
iTunes is alos perfect as audio player.
This is so easy to use. You don't have to read a manual or to spend one week to understand how it works... you charge the battery, you put the earphones, and it's on....

Says someone who probably owns a mac.

cutback of course I did. It would be so unlike me not to!

I love the new shuffle for it's size and convenience. I love Zen for the software(also the fact that you don't need any really, you can use windows media), the looks, the reliability, and the ease of using it with any pc at any time, on and the fm tuner! That was a player I had NO problems with. The ipod is another story.

I am sure I mentioned this but I work in IT, and no one in my department likes ipods for the software or any other feature really beyond looks. We all have other players!

people around me who bought another one (not iPod) had technical problems and had to return the MP3 to the shop for replacement. This was the case for ZEN and for the Sony

I honestly had the same experience with Ipods. I knew three people that had to return theirs because out of the box they had hardware issues with their ipods.

  • Don't forget the format issue....Proprietary format for ipods...I prefer to use a MP3 Player, not a M4A player. No problems with my Zen Player. Software is very easy.

  • Just don't buy a Sony. They restrict you to using their ridiculous proprietary completely unintuitive bullshit software, which all but makes the damn thing useless.

  • IPOD + ITUNES is the best option.

    The worst is SONY.
