Unknown File Formats

I just downloaded a couple files with the extension .mp3, however none of my media players are recognizing the files. Are there any (preferably free) programs anyone knows of that will tell me what file format they actually are?
'05 - TO, '06 - TO 1, '08 - NYC 1 & 2, '09 - TO, Chi 1 & 2, '10 - Buffalo, NYC 1 & 2, '11 - TO 1 & 2, Hamilton, '13 - Buffalo, Brooklyn 1 & 2, '15 - Global Citizen, '16 - TO 1 & 2, Chi 2

    .mp3 is a solid file extension. Try using Winamp (http://www.winamp.com) as your media player.

    I understand it's a solid file extension, all I'm saying is that it's quite easy for someone to simply change the extension from practically anything, and rename the files to .mp3, and as a result, have them not work.

    Oh, I'm sorry...I completely missunderstood your question. Now I understand.

    Sorry though, I know of no program to do that.
