I was trying to burn a cd and my cdr drive won't open. It seems to be the button that isn't working. How do I get it to open? I just used it an hour ago and it worked fine. Can I go into the guts and "push" it open or ?

There should be a little small hole on the front of the burner. Try pusing a needle through it. It should open. If not, try restarting or shutting down the pc for a few minutes. Just a few ideas.0

Np. I had the same problem with my Panasanic burner year's back. I would burn like say 20 dvdrs back to back. Then it would lock up on me and wouldn't open. Tried slapping it, cursed names at it .. but nothing worked. lol. The needle thing worked. But later didn't accept the needle. So I just shut down the PC itself and worked perfectly. Later that night, I threw in like another 30 discs to burn that night. Teach the burner a less not to mess with me. Ha.
Ok, woke up way to early this morning. Need a Tim's green tea ASAP.0 -
I had exactly the same problem today but I've never had it before. I'd just burned a cd, just one. The drive opened itself upon completion of the burning and I pushed it back in to test the files. Then I couldn't open it again with the button or by selecting eject on the computer. So I restarted and it worked just as normal.uʍop ǝpısdn ǝɹ,ǝʍ 'punoɹ ʎɐʍ ɹǝɥʇo ǝɥʇ ןןɐ s,ʇı0

Open my computer...
Right click on CD drive...
Choose "Eject"....Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,

I did actually try that too and it didn't work. I guess it really just did need a good "boot"."I'd rather be with an animal." "Those that can be trusted can change their mind." Inserting a thin object into the eject hole should always work.
Basically all you are doing is pushing on a lever that mechanically ejects the tray. If that doesn't work, then your eject shouldn't work at all.
However, if the object you are inserting isn't long enough, or is too weak, it will fail to move the lever and eject the tray.I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny.
