Loading Music Onto An IPOD Question

OK. I'm probably about the only person on the planet who
isn't in the game with this IPOD stuff.
I never had one, didn't plan on ever having one.
I like my lossless files and CDs and even vinyl, so kill me.

Anyway... I found an IPOD laying out in front of my house
complete with the usb port cord hookup and headphones.
Pretty bizarre. Kids sometimes loiter and smoke butts
out in front of my bar business and who knows that happened
but this was left about a week ago and no one has come
into my business to claim it, so I'm thinking finders keepers.

It's workable, but it is loaded with the most horrific batch
of hip hop crap. Here is my question.
How do I load up all of my Pearl Jam mp3s from my computer
onto this thing. Do I have to go through ITunes and set up
an account with a credit card etc... just to be able
to put my tunes on there. I have no intention of purchasing any
of the tunes, just want to put my Pearl Jam mp3s that are on
my computer hard drive onto it.

I poked around a bit and googled a bit, but everything I read
seemed to be talking about having to do this via Itunes
software and accounts.

Feel free to laugh at my ignorance of this,
but a helpful reply would be greatfully appreciated.

You can get an account with iTunes and download it for free, then just move your PJ tunes to it. It's pretty self-explanitory. For good karma points, though, you might want to hold on to the iPod for a bit longer just in case someone comes in to claim it.

    Thanks for the info, jammerfall.
Like I mentioned, I do have a bar business that is open every day
except Sunday, so I will hang onto it for awhile and see if anyone
comes in and asks about it before flooding it with live PJ tunes.

I've had the experience that if people don't call within a week, they won't call.

You don't need an "account" with itunes, don't let that confuse you at all. Just download it and install it. Once you plug in the ipod it'll tell you what to do! :)
bugs in the way...I feel about you

Oops, don't know why I said account, my bad. But I still stand by holding on to something that someone might claim for longer than a week before considering it "your own." :)
