Program to play my dvds on laptop?

My computer crashed a week ago and I had it repaired and it was reformatted and I lost my programs and other things

Now when I put dvds in my computer it wont play them because it says it doesnt have a program to do so. I was wondering if there is a program on the internet i can download for free so that i can watch dvds?

any help would be greatly appreciated!
