Uploading DVD's to YouTube

I have a lot of great Pearl Jam footage that I would love to share on YouTube. As stated in other posts I am very challenged when it comes to these things. I just bought a new computer, nothing special, but it works. Anyways it plays dvd's, I'm just not sure if there is a way to copy said videos onto my hard drive and then share individual songs with the community. Any help is much appreciated!
