Are these video Ipods a sham??

Hey all,

I have a ton of Mpegs (many PJ) that I was excited about being able to load onto my new video Ipod.

This is proving to be a tremendous pain in the ass. I am not real good with computers and file formats and transferring and all that junk, but I can learn pretty quickly, yet after trying many things via Apple's support troubleshooting site, I am still out of luck.

Essentially, it first tells me the files can't be transferred, does not support, etc. They suggest on the site some incredibly long and tedious process of converting and etransferring all the files, which I attempted. After spending about 10 minutes transferring and loading about :50 second clip on my Ipod, I thought I had gotten it.

I was wrong. The video plays, but with no sound. Back to Apple-support. Turns out now, some crap about Mpeg-1 / Mpeg-4 muxing / levels of audio, blah, blah, blah, and it a'int gonna play on my Ipod. They offer no more assistance and suggest using Itunes to purchase videos that (of course!) will easily play on my Ipod.

My question to you all is, is this a sham? Is there a way to transfer home movies and previously d/l music vids to an Ipod that doesn't involve splitting the atom? Or am I just shit outta luck?

Thanks for any help,

- Dan

I don't think it is a sham. They created a video file version that compresses small enough for easy d/l's and with that pesky DRM.

As for your problem, search the internet. There is software that I think does this easy. Also, ask this question here:

Thanks very much, I appreciate the link. Do you happen to know anything about software that would do so easily?

Ipod uses MP4 file format so naturally the MPEG didn't take
