Logging onto the goods section and adjusting email address in profile

I originally had the email address x. I changed it to y. y won't logon, x still does. I then click on the profile and it asks me to logon again. I then logon again with x and it sends me back to the front of the goods section and doesn't allow me to adjust my profile.
I really want this to work so i recieve emails on my new email address. any thoughts?
