burning dvds to disc's on mac's

I was wondering if anyone could help me out in trying to burn downloaded movies/concerts to dvds on a Mac. I have tried using iDVD but that doesn't seem to work (or am I doing it wrong?) I want to burn it so that I can play it on a dvd player and not just on the computer. THerefore I don't want to burn it just as a data file.
Any help would be much appreciated.
