Every single program that uses Java (including the pearl jam bootleg downloader) doesnt work anymore. Any website that uses java doesnt load. I have even tried uninstalling and reninstalling Java and it still refuses to work at all. Can anyone help me fix my Java?

  • having big troubles here, too, since the most recent update. Web links don't work, I can't open links in new windows, and my computer in general has slowed down a LOT.

    not pleased.

For me, I had a problem with Java when I was using an older version of Internet Explorer. I got internet Explorer 6 and the 128 bit encryption pak and then Java worked. the downloads were free.

    What OS are you using?

  • I'm running Windows XP and I use Mozilla Firefox. The problem isnt with the internet browser though, cause even programs I have on my cpu that use java wont work, and it all used to.

  • If any of you folks are running Spy Sweeper, that could be coming into play. I ended up uninstalling the last update (from control panel-- add/remove software), and everything's worked fine since.

  • okay, that was just lacking clarity. Sorry. :(

no posting before 1st cup of coffee!!!

I'm running Windows XP and use MS Internet Explorer.

I uninstalled the most recent java J2SE Runtime Environment update, it was version 5.0 update 6. Run a google for java not working and spy sweeper for the exacts, as the process I followed involved turning off one or two shields in spy sweeper.

anyhow, while I'm sure they released that java update for some good reason, I have no idea what it was, and haven't noticed anything not working without the update.

    hope this helps!

  • Nothing is working to fix this problem. Does anyone have any more suggestions? It's becoming quite aggrivating not being able to use anything Java.

I HATE Java applets.....the just fucking suck ass. We have a remote desktop program at work called Remotely Anywhere.....and it is Java based and it fucks with my browser so bad at times.....it tweaks my whole browser display. Once I close the java applet....everything snaps back to normal. Thankfully we also have pcAnywhere which is a Symantec program and not Java based.....and it's a much better remote desktop program.

Sorry....I know this wasn't any help....but you are not alone with your distaste for Java. I would explore the http://www.java.com site for help. They would be more help than here.
  • I still really need help with this. I have contacted Jave, and they say the issue lies with Dell, and Dell says that the issue is with Java, so no one is helping me.

For me...Java screws with all of my displays when I have it running....POS that it is.

For you...does it just not start at all? Have you tried Windows Updates? Have you tried uininstalling and reinstalling it all?

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling AND windows updates. Every single program or applet that runs on Java doesn't start. Instead, I get a big white box with a red X in the top corner. My computer gets all slow whenever it tries to open java and doesnt work.

  • Try a system restore back to when it was working

Start -> all programs -> accessories -> system tools -> system restore

Update your graphics drivers and make sure you have the latest BIOS version also.
  • I called a person at Dell (again) and he helped me fix my java. I had a another file on my cpu blocking it from working
