what's up with the board clock?

no...not a big deal or very important...but yes, i wonder about these things. my computer and this board seemed eerily synchronized time-wise and now all of a sudden, at least 1 to 1.5 minutes difference, sometimes appears like 2 minutes off. simply makes me wonder..is it my computer, or the board, which is off...anyone else notice the time synchronicity out of whack?

Test to see what time this says I post compared to my computer time.

Results: The board appears to be 2 minutes fast.

well cool, thanks...glad to see it isn't 'just me.' :p

what can i say, i am a fan of synchronicity. ;)
    speaking of which...

With one breath, with one flow
    You will know
    Synchronicity

A sleep trance, a dream dance,
    A shared romance,
    Synchronicity

    A connecting principle,
    Linked to the invisible
    Almost imperceptible
    Something inexpressible.
    Science insusceptible
    Logic so inflexible
    Causally connectible
    Yet nothing is invincible.

    If we share this nightmare
    Then we can dream
    Spiritus mundi.

If you act, as you think,
    The missing link,
    Synchronicity.

We know you, they know me
    Extrasensory
    Synchronicity.

A star fall, a phone call,
    It joins all,
    Synchronicity.

It's so deep, it's so wide
    Your inside
    Synchronicity.

    Effect without a cause
    Sub-atomic laws, scientific pause
    Synchronicity

ahhhhhhhh...the police, the 'pearl jam' of my youth...loved em! :D

If it's still slow, maybe your computer clock is acting up?

WinXP has a feature built in to automatically synchronize once a week to either time.gov, or a windows clock. In XP SP2, this feature was changed to update every 24 hours. You can synchronize whenever you'd like by right-clicking the time, clicking "adjust date/time", then going into "internet time."

Edit -- Maybe it is the boards. The boards are at least 60 seconds off on my end as well.
Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"
  • Its all relative to where you synchroinze with and when you do it and if you do it :)

Computer clocks can go wobbly, I have mine updated by the ntp.demon.co.uk server every day.... BUT if the PJ forum is not updated by this server chances are my time will differ too... and the same goes for anyone else who updates or syncs with a different server :)

Time is all man made anyways... :)

My clock is two minutes slower than this forum.....

how short a time the laurel crown stays green

here upon earth: it blows this way and that,
and when it changes quarter it changes name.

now of course i may have you confused with someone else, but if i remember correctly, you live down under yes? if so, that explains the hour time differential. since our 'seasons' are reversed, so is our daylight savings time. so then, when daylight savings time ends here on the 29th, your hour time difference should auto-correct.

however, i am then interested, even with the hour being off, is it exactly one hour?...or is an hour + or - 5 minutes? b/c then you'd still be on the same page as the rest of us. :p

indeed i do live down under.
you know i thought perhaps it had something to do with daylight savings and then i wasn't sure and i couldn't be bothered asking.

yep. and i was just recently messing about with my 'options'...and i noticed a choice for automatically synching with DST or not, so there's another choice for ya.

anyway, the clock is now off by about 6 minutes...continuing to get worse, so i do hope when we 'fall behind' this sunday, they resync the clock i guess to the atomic clock, so we're all on the same minute. :p

    daylight saving time.

Yup. Still at least 6 minutes fast. It really threw me off the first time I noticed it to.

don't know exactly when it happened...but it is fixed. :)
