Poster Questions
Can someone explain when the different prints are issued like S/N and A/P (also what does A/P mean?) Where on the poster are they signed and numbered (anyone have a pic as an ex?) How are you storing your unframed posters? I noticed some posters went on sale through a small release on a website. Can you list some websites that i might want to check out and keep an eye on regarding future sales.

easy there chief, let's take this one at a time ...
Every artist seems to edition their prints differently.
I will tell you how Ames and Brad Klausen are currently doing it (This is a Pearl Jam forum, so, let's make it Pearl Jam topical). There is an initial run, called and Artist Proof (A/P) ... run by the printer and sent to the artist to ensure it's what they want. This is usually between 10-15% of the desired print run for the job. If the ok is given, the printer will then print off the full edition.
Both Ames and Klausen sign and number their A/Ps, and sell a good potion of them off (and keep a few for their own personal stash too). The 1st edition prints, the ones you buy at the show, and that are sold through the 10c are NOT signed or numbered.
Note, this is *not* how these two have always handled A/Ps in the past ... it's a long story, but it's how they both do it presently. Also, some artists (Burlesque of North America, Shepard Fairey, Todd Slater and many more) sign and number their 1st editions .... and then mark their A/Ps as just that "A/P" (no number) ... again, all of this varies from artist to artist.
Here's a longer version with all sorts of printing nomenclature ...

Storing your print ... start here, come back with questions.

Expresso Beans is a great site to manage what you have in your collection ... you can add items to your "wanted" list ... and if it comes up for sale on ebay, you'll be alerted (if it's entered into the database by a volunteer). Also, you can search out people that are willing to trade or sell prints you want.
