DVD-R or CD-R?

I want to burn a movie onto a CD to play on my DVD player. Do I need a DVD-R disc or can I use a CD-R? PLEASE, any help is appreciated. Thanks everyone.

    If its a regular mpg file or mpeg file a regular CD should work....depending on your DVD player....

    If you want to burn on a CD-R and play it on your DVD player, you will want to make sure your DVD player will play either the VCD or SVCD format. And if so, then you're golden.

    If you have a DVD burner....then by all means go wif da DVD-R.
