Firefox vs BBS

Ok so I have had Firefox for almost 3 years now and never have I had a problem with it until 5 days ago. 5 days ago I noticed that everytime I go to this board, I don't see a "New Thread" or "Post Reply" buttons anywhere. I can't reply to PM's because those buttons aren't there.

Right now I have to use IE everytime I go on here and it's a pain in the ass.

Any help :)

Don't have a clue as to what your prob is, srry I can't be of assistance

Do this: Tools > Options... > Privacy > Cookies > Show Cookies... > Remove All Cookies > Close > OK > Reboot Computer and then log back in here and see if that changed anything.

And let us know if that did the trick...

@ animal : how did you come to the conclusion it might be cookies (just curious) when it's only buttons he's missing. Plz enlighten me, I've still so much to learn

It's just a hunch. Being it is a website issue that this person visits often....it could be a session cookie stuck, only displaying half ass info. If you clear them out, and let them reload fresh, sometimes that solves these weird issues. I'm curious if this works for the person as well.

But, ... if you come here as a guest you are able to see those buttons as well...
authentication only happens when you click them... :s

I suppose it could be that, but I'd be amazed and would want to know the deeper coding reason for it

This is REALLY strange and just started happening to me too.
It's atleast a relief knowing I'm not the only one.
Thanks for making this thread Joey!
And thanks to everyone trying to help!

The suggestions so far haven't worked for me either.
I love my Firefox! Now I have Camino open so I can post on here and Firefox open for everything else. Pain in the ass indeed.
    Any other suggestions???

    Thanks in advance! :)

Thanks for trying to help. :)

    I recently updated to 2.0. I had 1.5 for a long time.
The weird thing is that it worked with 1.5 the entire time I had it up until a few weeks ago.
I finally decided to update to 2.0 and was hoping that would also take care of the issue...but it didn't. It still persists.

Even weirder is that I recently updated Firefox on my work computer as well and have NEVER had any problems...with either versions. Everything has always worked fine with the board on that computer. Which just confirms in my mind that it really has to be some kind of setting....

That's a strange one, but it's not a browser issue because I've been using Firefox for years as well and it's just fine for me. Plus you said it was working on 1.5 for you and then something changed.

  • Might I suggest that you check and see if you've accidentally blocked any images from loading on the page? Do you happen to have the Adblock extension installed? I've accidentally blocked forms and images from sites that I never meant to.

Maybe try adding forums.pearljam.com to your Image Exceptions list. Click on Tools -> Options, then click on the Content tab. Make sure Load Images Automatically is checked, then click on Exceptions. Type forums.pearljam.com into the top bar and click allow. Does that make any difference?

Another option I considered was that the reply and quote buttons are gif images. The background, banner and whatever other little images there are, are jpg images. Not sure if there's any connection there, but I'll keep digging around.

Just for the heck of it you could install this program here that tweaks Firefox's settings for optimal performance. I've used it for a while and noticed a slight boost on it's startup and some page loads. It's worth a shot. Here's the link:

Let us know how it goes.

EDIT: I just thought of something else to try.. try switching the Style down in the very bottom left corner to something different than the one you are using, then switch it back. Do any of them make a difference?
