i'm so sick of trying to figure it out, i'd thought i'd ask here.

i use Nero. i've used many different brands of cds, still the same result. it seems to be burning fine, but near the end but throws an error. sometimes the tracks are there but won't play. or will play the first few songs, then nothing...stops playing.

i've burned a few dvds. no problems.

i find it funny how my burner will burn a movie, but not music.

thanks for your thoughts.

(damnit, it's *not in the title)

    try this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324129

Or post the specific error message please :)

  • Thanks for the link.
I’ll look at it more carefully when I’m up to it. Seems like a lot of info on there which is great.

The error I get is pretty generic. There’s no numbers or anything. Just says ‘burning process has been canceled”

there are different lasers for CD (IR) and DVD (red), the IR one may have failed. apparently nero has a test mode and you can run a test with a cd in the drive to find out.

oh there's a test mode? i was wondering if there was, like on microsoft.com. so it's on nero itself. cool

only thing about that is, the player plays cds fine. there's no problem when it reads cds to put tracks into iTunes.

    i'll run the test anyway.
