    you asked....:p

    what exactly is the prob?

I feel for ya. It seems almost anytime I go to do something new on the computer it's a headache and takes hours. I do have to say that even our computer guy has troubles occasionally, which makes me smile even though I'm paying for it. :D

We do download the updates as they come in but it was time to pay up for the next year and there's been a wee problem with the updating. We prefer to update it each year when it's due by getting the new cd at Officeworks. Which I did. But it's still being evil!

:p yeah, how did I know that you'd say that? ;)

Got the new cd, loaded it in last night did all the product key crap and delete the old package blah, blah, blah. It ran a scan. All is good EXCEPT that I needed to run back up. WHICH TOOK HOURS!! ( I think that's on account of me not doing it for a LONG time :o ) So fine FOUR back up discs later it's still crapping on about this bloody update thing that appeared MONTHS ago and wouldn't let me update. Says it can't connect. I'll give it connection! So now it's sitting there. Half finished and not being very bloody helpful at all. I suspect it may have something to do with the wireless broadband from hell that we have that is absolutely USELESS and has never worked. BUT who the hell wants to have that conversation with the charmers at my service provider AGAIN???? Not me! And seriously we know the bloody thing doesn't work and so did the old virus protection so what it's carrying on now for I'll never know! anyway, rant over. :o You know this stuff does my head in!

Yeah, that fits with my very sexist theory about computers, but I should probably not say anything here! :D

:D Now don't go getting all offended.
You know I didn't mean you! I just think computers are a whole lot of boy thinking in one little box. Practically impossible to work out if you're a girl! :D

Oh I did that already honey. I know I don't tell it very clearly, but that's the first thing that happened. I mean it must be working to some extent coz all the little icons have changed and there's a whole bunch of new fancy stuff on my screen. :D

I feel so sorry for you, because I know I drive my brother NUTS when I try to explain stuff to him regarding the computer and he's normally sitting in front of it! How you even get the jist of what I'm waffling on about without being able to see, I'll never know! :D

    ok so it says:

    Transaction Security ~ Secure
Back Up and Restore ~ Protected
    PC Tune Up ~ Optimized

Tis just this first little sucker called

    PC Security ~ Not secure
Then it says: At risk. Your pc may not be protected from the latest known risks and outbreaks.

Cool. No problem, so I click on the little red update button and it says:

LiveUpdate failed. Could not connect to the Live Update server.

ok still cool I go to help and it says: if you are having trouble connecting to the internet contact your service provider. But obviously I'm not having trouble connecting to the internet because I'm here aren't I?

There was this update and I just know that it is about the update. Coz that sucker has been busting my chops FOR MONTHS NOW!!!
There was also this other little box before that explained a little about the update bizo but I can't get it to come back up and I can't find it either. Anyway, I'll just keep pressing buttons. Something's bound to make sense sooner or later right? :D

if ya feel adventurous, go to the support website for the software maker and search the error.....this sounds like this is a common error....what ever that means...:p

hehe! :D You mean WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO GO JEANIE!!!! :D Right? ;)

I did have to ring Symantec and it was to do with that old update that wouldn't load and a couple of other things that needed to be fixed. The technical support fella was brilliant!! :)

Of course I hung up BEFORE I'd started trying to load the damn thing onto the other computer and of course when I did try I started getting dodgy messages! But that's cool, I'll just have a go at it tonight.

Anyway, thanks for your help love. :)
