    If you've got a 2 second pregap on every track you need to burn your cd again with "Disc at Once" selected instead of Track at Once.

    If it's just a split second pause on one or two tracks then it's probably a problem with sector boundaries. Software like Trader's Little Helper can align sector boundaries correctly.

    Is it a cd or mp3 or wav files or what that you have? Describe the pauses better if you can.

    yep its the 2 second pre gap but is there a DAO option in Windows Media Player? I may well just be being thick but I can't find it.

    Thanks for your help

    I don't know how to do it with Windows Media Player, but this is how you do it with iTunes.. which is also free:)
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

    You select Edit-> Preferences
    Then you click on the Advanced tab
    Then click on the Burning tab and change the Disc Format from 2 seconds to none.
    Then hit OK and you are ready to burn without the pauses.

    If you are unfamiliar with how to burn in iTunes then just ask me and I'll tell ya.
    Whoa, chill bro... you know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.
