That's impressive. So, since I can buy it up until one year after purchase, can I wait until I have a problem?
In fact, that is what I did. I was still within the one year warranty when the problem started. With the regular warranty, I would have had to bring the machine to an Apple Store and wait. When the tech support person told what I would get if I purchased Apple Care, I signed right up. The thing is you will have to get Apple Care before the one year warranty expires.

Congrats on the new MacBook. OK, to change the weather city in the widget or to change the information in any widget, click on the little "i" in the lower right hand corner. The widget will flip around and you will see its back. From the drop down menu, select your city.
To make windows bigger, click and hold the lower right hand corner of any window and drag either up or down, side to side, or do both at the same time. The three dots are only close the window (first dot, you can also use the key commands "cmd+w" to close windows), put the window in the dock (short cut key command is "cmd+m"), and the last button only switches between two preset window sizes.
The backspace key only deletes backwards, but you may be able to assign a key to do this task.

congrats for your new laptop.
If you haven't decided yet, I recommend you to buy office (the $150 version) instead of iWork. iWork allows you to make beautiful documents but not easily. Office is used worldwide so, it's easier to use it. $150 is not too much. I hate microsoft, but I have to say their office suite is quite good.

The iTunes widget is pretty cool, and I love the ups/fedex tracker, and the airline flight tracker. See what I mean? Also, I second the $150 Office suite. I also have iWork, but I never use it, because the office suite is more convenient and more portable.

The Home and End keys are most useful when you are viewing a pdf document in preview, the default mac program for reading pdf document. In other words, you do no need acrobat reader. If you really want to only use acrobat reading, I can show you how to make acrobat reader the default program for opening pdfs. I would just stay with preview. I often read manuals in pdf format that are a couple of hundred pages long, and home and end jump you to either end of the document quickly. They do not work in microsoft word, for example. However, the page up and page down keys do work in Word, and you can hold either down to scroll quickly through the document.
For the blackberry, there is probably some third party software that will enable you to use your blackberry. Go to this website:

ah yes, how could i forget the flight tracker! i also have one for checking low fares, can put in the routes i'm interested in and it updates it every day also love the national geographic image of the day one, and fact of the day.

By move files around, do you mean arrange them in certain positions in a window? You may have the snap to grid function set to on. Select the window you want to arrange your files. Press cmd-J or with the finder selected (the application menu in the top left says finder-if it does not say finder, click on an empty part of the desktop), and from the View menu select Show View Options. In the Arrange by selection, select anything else but Snap to Grid in the drop down menu. In this menu, you can also choice a background color or picture for each open window.

Press cmd-J or with the finder selected (the application menu in the top left says finder-if it does not say finder, click on an empty part of the desktop), and from the View menu select Show View Options. In the Arrange by selection, select anything else but Snap to Grid in the drop down menu. In this menu, you can also choice a background color or picture for each open window.

You should have no problem moving files from one folder to another. If you try to take something out of the applications window, the system might ask you for your password. Just a quick question. Is the file on you pen drive in the folder entitled "old docs" a PC file? It really should not make a difference, but I am just curious. The other reason a file may not be copied into the folder entitled "work" is the folder may not have its permissions set correctly. This starts to get into the UNIX underpinnings of of Mac OSX. First, you can try a general fix. With the finder listed as the application in the menu bar, go into the "go" menu (or press "shift-cmd-U"). This opens the utility folder. In the Utility folder find an application called "Disk Utility." Launch it. In the window column on the left find your hard drive and select it. You will now see buttons at the bottom of the window at right. Click the button "Repair Disk Permissions." Wait until the process is done, and then quit Disk Utility. Try to copy again.
If it does not work, the check the permissions are set correctly for the folder you created. Select the folder "work." Then press "cmd-i," which will open a window giving you information about the folder. Find the triangle that is labeled "Sharing & Permissions," and click the triangle show it drops down and shows you two columns entitled "Name" and "Privilege." You should see your user name in the name column, and next to your name in the permission window you should see "Read & Write." If you see "Read Only," then select Read & Write from the drop down menu. The system will ask you for your password. Close the window, and try to copy again. Let me know what happens.

That is a minute in computer time. In real time, it can take up to 11 minutes. This has been an issue ever since 10.5 was released. This will probably be resolved in the next update, 10.5.3, which should be out very soon.

I just want to move the files from one folder to another :(
And yes, on the duck head... I told them over the phone that I don't want to mail them the flawed adaptor. I'll just go to the apple store
You should have no problem moving files from one folder to another. If you try to take something out of the applications window, the system might ask you for your password. By the way, do not move application from the applications folder to any other folder. If you do, the automatic software updater will not find them. If a file has the same name as a folder you cannot move the file into the folder, it will just snap back. For example, if you have a file named "document" you cannot move it into the document folder. Maybe if you gave me an example of what you are trying to move and where you are trying to move it, I can be more helpful.

The friend who set the machine up for me put all my docs from my pen drive into a folder entitled "old docs". I created a new folder in docs entitled "work" I am trying to move a file "chapter three" from old docs to work, but it won't stick :(
Just a quick question. Is the file on you pen drive in the folder entitled "old docs" a PC file? It really should not make a difference, but I am just curious. The other reason a file may not be copied into the folder entitled "work" is the folder may not have its permissions set correctly. This starts to get into the UNIX underpinnings of of Mac OSX. First, you can try a general fix. With the finder listed as the application in the menu bar, go into the "go" menu (or press "shift-cmd-U"). This opens the utility folder. In the Utility folder find an application called "Disk Utility." Launch it. In the window column on the left find your hard drive and select it. You will now see buttons at the bottom of the window at right. Click the button "Repair Disk Permissions." Wait until the process is done, and then quit Disk Utility. Try to copy again.
If it does not work, the check the permissions are set correctly for the folder you created. Select the folder "work." Then press "cmd-i," which will open a window giving you information about the folder. Find the triangle that is labeled "Sharing & Permissions," and click the triangle show it drops down and shows you two columns entitled "Name" and "Privilege." You should see your user name in the name column, and next to your name in the permission window you should see "Read & Write." If you see "Read Only," then select Read & Write from the drop down menu. The system will ask you for your password. Close the window, and try to copy again. Let me know what happens.
