hey it's me again w/ another ram question

so i finally got another stick, followed the instructions, confirmed w/ hp that i was goin to buy the correct type but my system's not detecting it?!??

i checked the bios screen over & over and still shows slot is empty, at first i thought i was putting it in backwards, but it seems ok and is snapping into place, i also tried getting a bios update (firmware) but there hasnt been one since 2004

anybody have any suggestions?

Make sure both white clips snapped against the memory stick.

RAM can be really goofy.....but it should have picked it up. I know when I change my RAM configuration (add or remove)...at the first start up it recalculated how much memory I have. And then it is up to speed. \

If you are showing an empty RAM port in BIOS...try switching the two sticks around. Or just try one, then try the other one and make sure they both work alone in the new slot that you currently have the new stick in. This way you will know if maybe, just maybe the two sticks do not like each other....which is a possibility.

Good deal. Yeah you really have to put some pressure on them to get them to snap into place.
