Has anyone used this? It's supposed to be an open source alternative to MS Office that can work with Microsoft's file types (.doc, .xls, .ppt ect).

And it's free.

I'm downloading it now for OSX.

Yup, and it exports to PDF too which is very handy. I don't use MS Office while Open Office is around.

It's not bad for the price :D
But the OsX version is quite slow to launch.

It is probably the best piece of open source software around, due to it's flexible nature and approach to handling common file formats.

It is constantly in development, and I upgrade about once every 6 months, or any time there is a major release. It does have a history of being slow to open, occasionally slow to print, but these issues are improving with every release.
