They don't sell day tickets. If you can't pack the stuff, you might want to fly into Nashville, rent a car and pick up a cheap tent, tarp, cooler and sleeping bag at a retail store like Target or Walmart. You should be able to get out of there for about 150.00.

If you are flying in and paying the big money for the tickets, might as well pay a little extra and get SHADE and a COOLER!

we went to the gorge in 06 and couldn't travel with camping gear either...
but we bought what we could at target (small tent, small camp chair, tarp and a cooler)
and borrowed a few things from locals we were meeting there.
we came home with a few items (the tent and the camp chair)
and gave our friends the cooler.

the airline did give us a hard time on the way home however, trying to charge us for our duffel which was pretty heavy.
we sort of re-packed stuff and made it on the plane without paying but we were pretty angry about that.

anyway... if you go, have fun :)

Vedder is going to be all over that festival similar to the Warren Haynes has been or Herbie Hancock in 05. I just have a feeling he will sit in in lots of places. It is going to be great. You should come.

if he plays solo it will have to be in one of the tents, he's way too big to play what usually serves as solo/acoustic appearances (sonic stage), but I could totally see this happening, I'm sure the promoters are pushing for it, so it's all about whether Ed wants to do it

that might be tough, as cell phone reception for both calling and text messages sucks big time on the farm...as a side note get walkie talkies for you and your friends to keep in contact, don't count on cell phones working
