Save As (annoying problem)

every time i try to save a file, in the little window that lets me go to the folders and such is always set to have them ordered as 'modified' and everytime i change it to 'name' all my folders are set as such. then when i go to save again it's back to modified.

its really annoying to try and find a folder out of 30 when they are in such a stupid order. its handy i guess if i saved everything to the same 3 folders cause then they'd all be at the bottom. so how do i change it so it stays the way it should. ive never had this problem before but since i last reinstalled xp it started doing this.

Is this in XP? Try opening Windows Explorer and see if it's ordered by Modified there. Click the name column to make it right. Then click Tools > Folder Options > View and press the Apply to All Folders button. If that doesn't work try rebooting and see if that triggers it to actually be applied to all folders. If not post again and we'll try something else.

I've never had this problem before, but at work I have a weird problem where sometimes my Explorer won't auto-refresh, so when I create a new folder I have to right-click and select refresh to see it, then refresh again after I change its name. I can't figure out why...Windows Explorer is just mysterious sometimes.

  • ive tried that before, after i finish uploading this show ill try doing it and restarting right after, back to back.

and if its not weird enough things in my computer are organized by 'free space' but i can change that everytime and it wont matter. the thing is when i open the folders and stuff things are ordered the way i like. its only when i try saving stuff when i get that window that it ignores the settings.
