i have a question about images that i hope someone can help with. i found a image on 4chan and when i use it as an avatar on boards the image is there and then the background is the color of whatever its on top of. but when i edit the picture it has a white box around it. is there anyway to keep it transparent after editing it?

Can you crop the photo to just the outline of the image you want to use? Maybe look for a resizing or cropping option? I have the feeling that whatever image editor you are using brings it up in a square editing box and anything in that box is saved, which would explain the image not being transparent.
Been along time since i played with transparent GIF format but if memory serves me correctly (which it rarely does)..
If you are using photoshop... when you save image, select "transparent GIF" when saving.
If not using photoshop.. check the available formats when choosing "Save As" to see if that is available.
Hope this helps...

Try saving it as a transparent gif instead. Some browsers/applications tend to choke on pngs...
what image editing app are you using?
oh i have that somewhere....ill have to install it again and give it a shot.
