I downloaded msn live messenger 8.1 beta and was then told i need to update my flash to use some of the features. It bought me to a page where it told me it was dling it and when i saw the "wink" i would know it downloaded. Well it didn't seem to be doing anything so i went to adobe's website and tried downloading it there and still nothing happened. I'm not sure if anyone experienced any problem with this before and how it was resolved but thought I'd check here. Thanks.

some folks don't know this, but even though you use AOL you don't have to use their browser. have you tried using Firefox or Internet Explorer? just open up IE (as it's already installed) and update your Flash with IE.

Sign in to AOL. Then open up IE and use that as your browser.

yeah i did that...im sure something on my computer is interfering with it. Im checking out the troubleshooter on adobe. It said something about uninstalling other versions of it. Im bound to hit paydirt...it's just frustrating.

    Thanks.

according to a post over at computing.net:

In AOL if you go to settings, preferences and associations that makes AOL your default and it's permanent so if you clicked that at one time I bet that is why AOL keeps coming up. It does state when you click it that it will be permanent and you have the option to back out knowing that. If the IE setting doesn't work then they only way to not have AOL for your default in applications is to uninstall and reinstall AOL and don't ever click that setting and then everything should revert back to using IE.

browse around...i'm sure someone has posted the same problem you have had:

if you're not using Windows XP, change the Operating System to the one you are using from the drop-down box at the top of the page and click Go Search.

hmmm...yeah I'm sure that has to do with the prob I'm having. Thank you for posting that link. I stepped away from it for a little while..cuz i wanted to kill my computer...Im not the most patient person in the world..lol. Im afraid to uninstall stuff...im sure i would screw it up. But i'll look into it...I still need to perform more of the troubleshooting steps that were listed on adobe's site.

But ill check out that site. Thanks again. :).
