Applecare rocks! My first computer was a 12" ibook g3 that broke and it got replaced with the first of 2 g4s...It has saved my ass many times.

My new Mac Book arrived from China this morning which is why I am looking to unload this G4. I take care of my possessions so this is a good deal for someone.

I've had a few emails on this already, which is nice

I might suggest Parallels, rather than boot camp

With Parallels, Windows runs in a window while OSX is up and running. With bootcamp, you have to shut down and reboot to get windows going.

i've thought about both.. talked to an apple rep.. and i decided on bootcamp..

he said if i run parallels .. any viruses i get while running xp in the window will affect the entire hdd, if i get a virus on xp while running bootcamp, it jsut affects the xp partition.. i don't mind having to switch back and forth OS's ..

fact i like it.. keeps everything seperate

Why people would put Windows on a Mac (or anything for that matter) is beyond me...

It'll be interesting after Christmas when everyone has to upgrade their new PC's to Vista, and they see how large the Windows tax is.

I can do everything in Linux (and have been able to for several years) that Vista claims are innovative new features. FACT.

Parallels operates on a disk image. If that XP/Windows disk image becomes affected or infected the issue remains and is contained within that disk image. It does *not* affect the entire hard drive. simply delete the partition and deploy a new one.

Parallels: Disk Image, fast, environment emulator, requires more resources
Boot Camp: Disk Partition, requires reboot, boots natively

No one "has to" update their PC to Vista any time soon.
