How do I delete certain programs from my computer??

I'm not very good with computers and I have so many programs that I don't need like Kazaa and yahoo instant messanger among others. And they are slowing down my computer. So if anybody would be nice enough to tell me how to delete these programs it would be swell.

    If your using windows xp

    Start -> control panel -> add/remove programs -> click on the program you want to remove and then click (if there) remove, if not, change/remove and follow instructions.
