you can just copy the avi file to the dvd and it will be playable by something like Media Player

to make the disc playable by dvd players, you need to convert the avi file to dvd format (mpeg2 format) before burning the file....do a google search and you should be able to find some software that does that kind of conversion

If you have a DivX dvd player, there is no need for any conversion. It will read any data disc.

use ConvertXtoDVD....it's great and compress the memory to a manageable size. Still the quality is pretty good.

If you have trial version, I can grab you a real one if you want it.

love this app. i used to use tmpgenc for encoding avi's to dvd video. found convertxtodvd to be much easier.

ok, it's worked great so far but i'm having a small problem w/ something.

i set the files to convert and went to change the title from My DVD to what it was and hit that green check...but i've burned 2 copies and it still says My DVD in the menu. when i hit video preview it shows me that, too, but when i go to the editor it already has the background image and what i wanted it called already set...so why does it keep burning it as 'My DVD'?

i've even saved the project and the editor has all the info but the preview is 'My DVD'

  • Get Nero 8

It does everything now, including pretty excellent DVD authoring from any media file.

You can even add some pretty excellent animated 2D and 3D DVD menu's, and download more from their site for free.

pop it in your DVD player and voila.

jut did this the other day actually.

    torrent it.
