downsampling an audio file

hey, i downloaded tools first show and dimeadozen said "Please be aware that this is a 24 bit, 48khz recording, which must be downsampled to be burned on an audio cd."

what does this need to be downsampled to?

    16bit, 44.1khz is the CD audio format.
