How do i burn .avi to dvd?

I'm trying to burn a .avi video file straight to dvd but seem to be having a problem with it. What's the best way to do it?

if you're using a mac you can use a program called visual hub, also I beieve quick time pro on PC/Mac can as well. Hope thios helps.
