Now, I'm not saying they would sing the whole thing, but what book would PJ best capture in song if they were to interpret some great work out there - and why...

I'll start the ball rolling with...

Lord Of The Flies - William Golding

Plenty of stuff about human struggle, personal doubts, power hungry individuals using fear to control others and stuff about the human condition. Should be a bonus track on Riot Act

  • Good Thread!!! :D Let me have a think....

I'd say Animal Farm by George Orwell.

The conflict and political aspect would be captured beautifully by Ed and I think lyrically it would be fun for them to do, especially with all the animal names and species :)
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

That would be a tough one to pull off after the Beatles did isomething similar on the White Album, but I reckon EV would have a decent stab at it. It certainly wouldn't sound anything like 'Piggies', that's for sure.

    That's what I mean, I think they'd pull it off well :)

EDIT: I actually think they could make it quite sinister in parts.

I never really thought of PJ as pulling off sinister very well, but I think you might be on to something there. It would be pretty atmospheric and a bit creepy, like "...Evolution" I guess.
