As great as you think this would be I'm sure he is not happy about the situation, would much rather be playing or traded. And I think he has handled this whole thing very well.

Daddy Dolan bought them, and then gave them to his buffoon son for Christmas.

A lot of things have happened to the Knicks in the 21st century, mostly bad. First was the Patrick Ewing situation. Instead of letting an expiring contract come off the books, they made the insane trade that imported bad contracts. Then Scott Layden further increased that problem by signing Allan Houston to a 100 million dollar contract. By then Houston was 30 and two years later in 2003-04 he started developing knee problems. Compounding the problem was trading for players such as Shandon Anderson and Howard Eisley, who were in the early stages of contracts that lasted at least five years. Then comes Jeff Van Gundy's sudden resignation in December 2001 due to the meddlesome nature of Dolan and the Knicks go 30-52. Looking for the quick fix, Layden deals the seventh pick and Marcus Camby to Denver for Antonio McDyess. It's bad enough that two picks later was Amare Stoudemire but even worse when McDyess plays just 10 games in two years due to knee problems.

That leads to the quagmire known as the Isiah Thomas era. At first it seems ok since they made the playoffs and Marbury played well in 2004 but it turns sour really quick. Injuries and other things do the Knicks in the 2004-05 season and lead to the hiring of Larry Brown.

Brown uses an NBA-record 42 starting lineups, rips the players, insists on adding players such as Steve Francis and Jalen Rose, who only add more bloated cap room. After one season, he's fired and becomes a member of the Dolan buyout program.

The next year is a 10-game improvement and the Knicks are in eighth in March. That's when Thomas gets his contract extension and the injuries hit and the Knicks stagger to a 33-win finish.

In 2007-08, the Knicks add Zach Randolph, a similar player to Eddy Curry, who rebounds better and has more range. The tandem doesn't work as Curry regresses. If that's not bad enough, there's that Isiah Thomas harrassment suit that goes against him, costing 11 million. Four games into the season, he threatens to bench Marbury. Marbury goes home and then comes back the next night in LA - as a starter. Team loses eight in a row and never recovers.

    I think that covers everything.

what wrong with the knicks? they dont use marbury yet they would not buyout his contract or even trade him.

i think, this is a big insult to the game itself. there are lots of teams out there who need point guards and they are just letting him sit there without doing anything for the game. what the...

by the way, stephon marbury - from the villain to the victim. only in NBA.
