Hi there my fellow Jammers! As you can see I'm brand spankin' new :p And I really apologize in advance to the admins and the moderators, because I really have no clue where to introduce myself since I am just a newbie, so if this topic is in the wrong place, then definitely move it..:) Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself, My name is Reem and I'm 17 going 18 years old and I've just recently became a fan, I've always been a fan of grunge, but I had this stupid front I used to put up, that Nirvana were the only grungers and are the best and that anything that came after them were copy-cats...yeah, I was that narrow-minded Nirvana head :p I still love them and no doubt they are great, and I've always kinda liked "Jeremy" since I heard it like 4 or 5 years ago, but that still didn't break my Nirvana front, then just recently I heard "Black" while I was trying to complie a Rock'n'Roll CD and that broke the barrier for me! What a song, probably one the most emotional and painful songs out there and since hearing that a few months back, I've been addicted to Pearl Jam ever since...I just never realized what an amazing band they are and heck, I even listen to them now more than Nirvana lol, which is saying alot, because I was a worshiper! Surely, Nirvana is great, but I have this feeling that Pearl Jam is even greater, just the lyrics and their music and the way so many can relate to them, it's really amazing....Okay, so that's a not so brief intro on myself, I hope you'll forgive me lol....But that's how it happened and I decided to join the forum to know other crazed Jammers like myself :D Somewhere where I can pour my "Jam-ness" to :P

Anyways, take care all and I truly hope to know some of you...Keep on rockin' in the free world :D

Pearl Jam are a greater band than Nirvana, in almost every way.

    Welcome aboard.

Very cool to seeing the next generation on here realizing how great this band really is!! As a teach I am trying to convince some of my students (your age). I should take the lot to a show someday, that will surely make them believers. Did you see PJ perform live already?
If not, than hold on to your socks...they are FANTASTIC!!

p.s. PJ fans are great as well...just dont take everything said on here to seriously. Have fun!!
Why not be mediocre and be the best at it that you can be?

Hi everyone! Hehe I didn't expect replies this quick :D Thanks to all for welcoming me! I really appreciate it, hehe you guys make me feel like this is home already :) thanks a whole lot! And Byrnzie I've heard some songs off of "Yield" and it's awesome! I love Given to fly, Do the evolution (and that became my cellphone ringtone for some time!) and I love Faithfull and Wishlist and No way, a nice turn for Pearl Jam!

Kushikushun, hehe, well I'm proud to be a fan of a band that acutally makes good music, I maybe 17, but my music choice is much more grown up, I'm not bragging or showing off, but this is true, I just can't stand some of the music that's on today and I'm a huge fan of rock'n'roll and I believe now it's dead, but thank God for Pearl Jam, they're still carrying the torch and creating nothing but sweet Rock'n'Roll that so many legends spent time and creativity on building it! Sadly I haven't seen them live yet, I can't imagine what that's like either, to see them live, that would be a dream come true, hopefully, if they are going to tour in Europe someday lol, then I will definitely fly there and make a plan!

Again! Thank you guys sooo much for giving me a nice warm welcome, you guys are already giving me a feel that this is the place to be! Byrnzie, AMEN TO THAT Nirvana comment :p

Alright thanks again and take care of yourselves, see ya around the forum!

Welcome aboard my friend. You seem to already know a lot about Pearl Jam.

You're almost 18, so I'm pretty sure within three or four years, you'd definitely LOVE PJ more than Nirvana. Nirvana's music slowly drifted away from me as I got older but PJ's music remain with me even their earlier records b/c I think Eddie writes songs that all people of all ages can relate to.

You guys sure know how to make a gal feel at home :)....restlesssoul, I'm really glad that I have about a whole era of Pearl Jam songs that I have to discover, so far, I've heard loads, but I know there's a nice long road ahead of me, can't wait to get to the rarities either!

LongRd, is it possible to love Pearl Jam more than I do now? :p They're such a great great band, and I just know what you say is going to happen...I mean, look at all you loyal fans, that pretty much says what kind of effect PJ has as band...

And hey JohnBriggs! Great to see another newbie here on with me, haha, so we can discover things together :D

Anyways, thanks for the millionth time and take care all!

    Cheers, Reem!

    Just wait :)

And if you have lots more of PJ's catalogue still to hear then it's going to be a great journey for you. I wish I still had that fresh feeling.

Welcome and enjoy it here. Great place to talk PJ and meet other fans. There really are some great people on here. :) I like Nirvana alot and saw them in one of their last concerts, but PJ live is in a whole other league. I was a huge fan from day 1, but after my first concert that was that! It's cool you've "discovered" them and they do indeed grow on you. ;)

Oh beleive me Reem, there's always more room in my heart for PJ lovin' ;)
I've been a die-fan for over ten years now and in two weeks I'll be doing my first fan tour to them. I've only seen them once, and ever since I've been into their live bootlegs. So for awhile, it was just the studio, lyrics and music then the live performances took it to another new level of love. And in two weeks, it will reach another level. hehe. I know I'm not making sense but you understand. Here's a thread I made that kinda explains my love and passion for PJ. http://forums.pearljam.com/showthread.php?t=284183

I'm haven't even gotten into the posters yet. Still don't why what al the fuss is about but maybe sooner I'll be into them like others.

hehe Jeremy1012, I'm sure of that, the fans on here are a prime example, surely you'll miss that fresh feel, but also isn't it great to have this profound, respectful kind of love that you know will never go away? Also everything is much calmer in that state, I'm like an animal on the prowl, scrapping anything that's PJ hahha sounds nasty I know...But that's like lustful and passionate love :p Am I making any sense here? hehe

Wolfbear, cooool, you've been to a Nirvana concert? That's awesome, but yeah, before I actually used to go for the more punk rock kinda thing, I used to like those fast beats and pulsating energy, but now that I'm older, it slowed down, now I like that good ol' rock'n'roll sound that also has a right degree of energy not too hard to make you're head spin out of control, the conserved kind of head-spinning that's just the right degree, like PJ their music is something I relate to much more than Nirvana now looking back a few years ago lol....

Hey LongRd, that's so awesome that you get to drive from here to here on your own and first tour, wish ya all the best mate and wow, I bet seeing PJ live is a real love booster! It'd be a dream to see them, I'm just really hoping that they'll tour Europe, because I will definitely do everything in my power to go and see them!

    Again! Cheers mates!

I know what you mean and I agree but I loved that early feeling of just being totally in love with the band and dying to hear everything I could. I don't listen to them as often as I used to, just because I have a hunger to hear new music and don't find as much time for PJ as I used to but a few years back I was the most enthusiastic fan imaginable. It was great and I envy people who get to experience that afresh :) I still love the band though, obviously. I'm still here after all.
