Just curious if anybody here is a fellow geocacher? If not, it's a great hobby to get into if you like the outdoors or hiking.

I'd never heard of it. Looks fun though. :)

it's a great hobby to get into, fairly cheap too.....all you need is a GPS (basic models work, I got mine for around 150 i think). This hobby has taken me to tons of awesome places I would never have known about.

I got into it about a year ago. There are about 2500 caches within 50 mi. of here. I was amazed when I saw that because I had never heard of it before last year. The cachers in this area seem to be very creative and have placed caches in some very scenic areas. I try to fit in some caching whenever I travel too. I've hidden a few caches and named them after PJ songs. And I recenty created a mystery cache where you have to figure out the name of my favorite band to get the final coords.

I've also started a music series (only one placed so far after Moe.) but soon hope to put a nice PJ one somewhere (thinking around a yield sign or something).

If I'm ever in the buffalo area, I'll have to look for yours, I try to find a couple whenever I travel also
  • I did that 3 or 4 years ago. I was at my uncle's house on a lake in AL. We went out on his boat and he took out his GPS thingy and before we knew it we were on this tiny island looking for a box buried next to a tree. It is a pretty cool hobby but I never have time for it. I still get a weekly newsletter telling me all the geocaches in my area.
I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too.

Hey! fellow geocacher here! So glad to see someone else here doing it. I love doing it, it's so much fun. Found some great ones just last week. Where are you?

  • i went geocashing in south dakota, and we came across a herd of bighorn, at least 25 of them, the big buck stood his ground and just watched us. i could feel the ground shake below me. truly amazing scene! nothing in the cash though.
  • I use a gps a lot for work, just bought one of the new Colorados.
Thinking this would be a cool thing to get into.

    I'm in Western Mass.

There is actually a good amount of geocacher's around my area which is nice, new hides keep coming up on a regular basis.

I'm driving down to VA in March, hoping to stop and get at least one in every state on the way.
