Let me tell you how this all went down. He's out one night with his nerd buddies on a Friday night after nerdy, highly successful computer job. He meets this marginally hot, blonde white lady. They talk, they hook up blah blah blah. Then they get married. He's cool because it's just him and the honky livin' the life. She's bitchy, he can hide away in World of Warcraft or something while she obsesses (sp?) or how off center the pictures on the mantle are.

Then she can't get prego. They have the twins. He's thinks he's done. Then she wants more and surprise she having trouble again. "Here," the doctor says, "these magic pills will help you get pregnant." Little does Jon know these magic friggin pills are going to make kids spill out of his wife like a Thanksgiving cornucopia.

Dude. I know he loves those kids, and obviously he loves the wife. But I see it on his face. There are moments when he seriously wants to walk out the door, jump on a motorcycle and do a wheelie for about ten miles away from that house. It's not just the kids. It's the wife. She is a monster to him.

The show should be called Kate Would Like to Thank TLC for Making Me Famous Because Without Them I Would Have To Raise My 8 Kids With My Husband Who Can't Do Anything Right, Jon.

That is freaking hilarious and I love the new name of the show!!

When I first watched it I thought Kate was very harsh to John, and had a wall up to the kids. As the kids grow up, I see more shots of her enjoying her time with them. The last episode I watched with the Friday night movie night she was laughing along with them, and it was very cute. There was one shot of 3 of the youngest talking talking and Kate just said how noisy it could be. It was so cute! She seems to miss her two oldest when they leave for school even though when they come back she mentions how it's more chaotic.

From what TLC lets us see, it seems that the kids love their parents a lot, and that it's reciprocated.

My twin and I always wore hand me downs from our older siblings so it was rare that we wore the same thing. I saw an episode where John took one of the kids to the recycle place to throw away cardboard. John mentioned they receive so many boxes, I wonder if companies send to them 8 sets of clothes for the advertising, and that's why the 6 youngest are always dressed the same, and the 2 oldest dress the same to school(Unless they are in a private school where all of the kids wear the same thing, that's the only explanation I had.)

the thing is their marriage and family is overall happy and healthy and it works for all of them...despite how unbelieveably stressful it must be

i think it's kinda odd that so many people are so quick to criticize either Kate or Jon. as if they themself are the parent of twins and sextuplets and they behave with their spouse and kids like 'miss susie sunshine' 24/7 while doing so...

actually now that i think about it he might've graduated in 1995. i graduated in 1998 so that makes it 3 years older. i'm sticking to that! it did happen.

  • I gotta admit that I get sucked into this show because my fiance watches it. I did like the Phillies episode, too. But having eight kids is the best thing that ever happened to them. Thanks to TLC, they have a much easier life. I heard they're having a huge house built for them in coastal North Carolina and that a separate, private area of that house is being built solely for the TLC crew. TLC must be flipping the bill for that one (or at least a large portion of it)! And those kids get to do so much more than the average kid gets to do and they still scream and cry everywhere they go. Don't get me wrong, I watch and mostly enjoy this show. The Gosselins are far better to watch than that other show TLC shows with the 17 or 18 kids. Those people are down-right scary to watch!

And speaking of TLC, when did they become the freak-show channel? Every promo I see on that channel is for a show about a family with way too many kids, or a show about a midget family, or a show about the tallest woman in the world, or the fattest man in the world, or a show about some guy without a face, or even a show about some guy who's got trees growing all over his body!!!

Where is the "learning" in "The Learning Channel"??
    Rock on!
