I don't looove my new tattoo...HELP!

Okay, so I got my new tattoo today. It is a butterfly with initials in all four of the wings...my husband's, my son's, the two babies we lost, and (oh yeah, I went all PJ crazy), PJ. I will post a picture for suggestions (when I figure out how the hell to upload it somewhere and post the link), but here is my dilemma...

The wings should have had the original veins of the drawing, with the intials hidden. However, it ended up being just the intials, with no other veins. I think it can be easily fixed, by adding more veins around the initials. However, here is my query:

Do I go back to the original artist, or should I go somewhere else? Is she going to be pissed, or think that I was too much of a wussy to mention it then? Or, if I do go back to her should I make it like I just thought about it later?!? I don't want to hurt her feelings, or piss her off. She holds the needle.

And, does anyone know how long I have to wait to get it fixed? The whole 30 days, which is the time they say it takes to fully heal?

Just so you know--this is my first thread, so you know I am stressing if I used this topic!!!

Take care,
I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

Tough questions, I have quite a few tattoos, some didn't turn out the way I had hoped. I'd say let it heal, if the artist was someone you are familiar with or was highly recommended I'd say go back to them. If it doesn't heal right or you really aren't to sure about the artist get some more opinions and go to someone else. It's a real downer when something you were so excited about having done doesn't turn out quite right. I know that feeling.

    Take care,

Your body, do whatever you decide you want to do. You could go back to the same artist if you thought they were talented and didnt quite understand what you were hoping for. Otherwise, if you feel she is just no good... go find someone else. A good artist can certainly fix what you are describing. Who cares about her feelings, only yours matter in these regards.

Thanks for replying! I tried to get it in Florida about two weeks ago, but I had forgotten my ID and didn't realize it until I waited for about 4 friggin' hours. So, I had really thought about this before I did it.

I just want to love it as much as I had thought I would...

Thanks...I know. I really liked her, she has been doing it for 12 years at the same company, and the company is one that has been in the Atlanta area for years. I had my first one done there about 13 years ago. I am always too worried about how others are going to feel when I am not happy with their "product". It could be because I have to deal with the public in my store and I am little too cautious. However, I wouldn't be ugly about it, so I will just let it heal and give her a call.

    Take care,

hey, i would let it heal and then go back to the same artist since it seems you feel compfortable with her. It probably will only need to heal about 2 weeks or so (maybe even less). I've had 6 hours worth of work done in a day and then had to wait about a little over a weeks to go and get it all finished up, but again, that's me, you may be different.
I have a lot of tats but had 1 tat that i wasn't too happy with (it was done by somebody different than who i usually go to), so i went to my regular guy and he fixed it up for me easily. The reason i did this was because i didn't feel compfortable with the other guy at all. I've had a couple done by my regular guy that needed a little something more to it to really bring it to life and every time he does whatever is needed free of charge. He always tells me that an artist never wants somebody walking around with their work that they aren't happy with. Tattooing is mostly a word of mouth business and an artist will be more than happy to do whatever is needed so that you are happy with their work.
I wouldn't be worried at all about going and letting her know what is needed, i bet she'll be happy to fix it up for you.

Sorry that your tat didn't work out at first. I hope things work out for you :) You can be thankful though that you didn't have to sit through this . . . his guy spent over fifty hours having this done.

(I have cropped them as close as possible so that you get the gist, hopefully the crops are close enough that I won't get banned or get your thread closed)

i agree that you should go back to the same lady that did it. she probably didnt realize that you were not satisfied.... they do ask you at the end if it is good for a reason!.... i think she'll fix it for you.
  • I'm sorry to hear your tattoo wasn't everything you hoped for.
I don't have tattoos myself, but my roommate has over 50 so we've talked at length about Tattoos...esp since I eventually want one.

Anyways I'd go back to the artist who did your tattoo and explain what you want added. 99% of tattoo artists are covered in tattoos themselves and have prob had to get at least one of them touched up in some way themselves, so I suspect she'll be very understanding. It's YOUR body and any reputable artist/shop wants you to be happy with their work so that you'll come back to them for your next tattoo, and recommend them to others, so they will work with you to get your tat JUST RIGHT. They are complete idiots if they take offense, but I REALLY don't think that will happen.

    Good luck!!!

    Take care,
In my opinion, go to a different tattooist.

They get pissy if you don't speak up at the time.

Wait til the scabs have healed, bout a month, then get the rest done.

With all of my tattoos, no matter how well theyre done, I dont ABSOLUTELY love them first up, it takes me a good month or two to get used to them.

    Hope this helps :)
    Good luck!

The fact that you didn't label this as NSFW is a big problem. This will probably end up getting you suspended for a few days...

    Take care,
i dont know if its alreddie been said here but, you need to go BACK to the artist NOW and tell them what you want changed/added. Once u go there and talk to them they'll tell u how long to wait to return for the touch up. Its only right that they fixxx it cuz you paid for it and didnt get what u wanted. UNLESS you dont trust them and want to go elsewhere to someone u know for sure will do it right. Sometimes there are artists that wont go near another artists work though. Its a respect thing amongst them.
