So I was driving home and I see this glowing light up ahead. As I round the corner I come up this house, decked out completely with Christmas lights, a giant glowing snowman in the yard, along with reindeer, santa on the roof. The whole nine yards.

Why do people set up so many damn lights, especially when it is still november and not even thanksgiving!?? I find it very annoying. I mean, i don't mind minimal or classy lights, but elaborate setups are a little much. Thoughts?

I don't know, I think for those who go all out, it's just something they really enjoy doing. I've read where some plan all year long and take months to put them all up. It's certainly not anything I'd ever do or even want to live next to, but I do enjoy seeing them sometimes. :)

There's this cul-de-sac in a suburb of my town that actually is linked together with this one house that has this computer setup so the lights are coreagraphed(sp?) to music. VERY elaborate. When the local news interviews them again I'll post the link.

Here where it's very cold and gray during the long winter, I like the lights...but not until after Thanksgiving. :)

We don't even have Thanksgiving here, but lots of people have put up their Christmas decorations already.

My daughter has a December birthday, so we usually put up the decorations then. About a week before Christmas. When I was at home we used to put them up on my Dad's birthday, 2 weeks before.

With the shortage we're having, I don't see how anyone can justify waste of all that energy.

    lol
  • We put ours up last weekend. Basically - once November roles around - if you get a half decent day on a weekend - you stick em up. Otherwise you end up holding a metal ladder with frozen fingers and that sucks.
