Saw Casino for the first time just this week. Pleasantly surprised at how good it was, will try to see the new one some time soon. I hadn't watched a Bond movie all the way through since Roger Moore, Dalton was mediocre at best and I couldn't stand Brosnin. Daniel Craig was an inspired choice.
Great movie, I agree though that Casino Royale's story was a little better but both are great. I like the direction these two have gone compared to the other Bond movies, especially the one with Brosnan, where he is driving around the ice hotel or whatever it was. They were getting a lil too fake for me.
I agree with this pretty much spot on. I remember one Brosnan Bond movie where there was a hurricane, so he parachuted into it and surfed into the enemies shore, terrible.
I really enjoy the new Bond movies. I liked Casino Royale a lot more than Quantum of Solace, but i still enjoyed Quantum of Solace. Quantum is a continuation from Casino, the movie literally starts 2 minutes after the first one ends.
I'm sure the next one will be a continuation of the last two as well.
I really enjoy the new Bond character though, Casino Royale is him when he is first a double agent...the events of these movies show him as human and gritty, and further along he'll adapt to cope with this with his smooth wits, one liners, and gadgets. You can see this forming now, but not in a corny way.
The only things about Quantum I didn't care much for were a few moments of the action scenes [not a fan of CGI anymore], the lack of slow but tense parts [like in Casino, with the poisoned drink and black jack], and the lack of the importance of the female roles. They were literally thrown in for sex appeal, but not like previous 007 movies. I think the one girl was introduced for a grand total of 7 minutes on screen, and the other girl's story didn't really have much to do with Bond.
Good movie though and excited to see where it goes next. I enjoy as others have said the new gritty Bond, where he'll get into a fist fight if he has to instead of rely on gadgets. The gadgets are cool, i'd just like some more creativity. Half the time the gadgets are so crazy they can only be used effectively in the exact situation that happens in the movie. [I want more simple gadgets that can be used with smarts, like a watch with an emitter that breaks glass, etc.]
Whether they liked it or not this article made want to see this movie today, BOND, All Knotted Up. Unfortunately to many things came so tomorrow I'll give it a try.
Peace
hmmmmm, yea...not a good review. it does seem many 'mixed' or bad reviews, so-so. i think the first craig/bond flick was so good, and such a change from the usual bond fare....that it's really unsurprising that it flounder some the 2nd time around, still trying to form their new direction i think. i haven't sen it yet, but definitely plan to next week. i am prepared with an open mind.

No offense, but what a stupider post.
I was never really into Bond until the Daniel Craig movies. So maybe taking the stupid gadgets away made Bond more legit.
i agree...
although i agree with some reviews i have read that said it felt like a continuation of the first film.
Esther's here and she's sick?
hi Esther, now we are all going to be sick, thanks
Favorite part?
(Spoilers, i guess)
the airplane sequence. I mean, you KNOW Bond ain't gonna die, but i still gasped at the end.
(End Spoilers)
