I used to LOVE this show...then I found out he's a fraud. I used to give Survivorman a raw deal. But his shows MUCH better.

Survivorman is the best show on television. Man vs Wild is ok, its kind of interesting and fun to watch but it has nothing on Survivorman.

    I agree.

Man v. Wild is OK, but Survivorman kicks its butt royally. I haven't seen a new one in a long time, though.

That's the thing. I want the real deal and not something staged.

Man vs. Wild was good for about two episodes.

Read the disclaimers at beginning of show…if you can read that fast!

Man vs. Wild every show checklist:

Bear freefalls from something in the sky and parachutes to safety…check
    Bear traverse harsh rugged terrain…check
    Bear climbs up something…check
    Bear climbs down something…check
Bear eats something raw but never swallows…check
    Bear drinks own urine…check
Bear drinks moisture from something disgusting…check
Bear strips down to black underwear…check
    Bear starts fire…check
    Bear builds bed and shelter…check
Bear can’t sleep because dangerous or annoying lurks…check

    Bear finds way home…check

    YAWN!

As someone who backpacks and travels quite a bit, Survivorman is a much better show to watch. I take tips from that show and actually apply them in the field and store little nuggets of info away in my noggin in case I do get into a bad situation. Plus Les has to lug all of his gear with him and is completely alone.

The moment I find myself being chased by pumas, flying down waterfalls, and eating raw dead carcasses on a regular basis I will switch my allegiance to Man vs. Wild.

As someone who also backpacks quite a bit, you mean you don't find yourself in these situations all the time? Maybe one of us is doing something wrong. My allegiance is with Bear, because he taught me how to climb down into the inside of a glacier pretty much just to look around, and that's my kind of adventure

I'm pretty sure Les is finishing up a new season and new episodes are supposed to start in the next month or two.

Yeah, but Bear does crazier things. Sure he has back-up, but it makes him take crazier chances.. Survivorman gets boring. He has to be conservative because he doesn't have the back-up. Bear's show is much more entertaining.

Do you want to see Survivor man pick berries or Bear Gryllis climb into a camel corpse to keep warm?

As opposed to sitting around in a makeshift shelter for a week until someone comes and gets you.
I like Survivorman, but I find Man vs Wild to be more entertaining.

I wanna see a show that is educating. I'm never in my life going to kill something and use it's skin as a sleeping bag. But I could end up stranded somewhere and need to know the basics.
