Awesome Birthday Present or What Were They Thinking?

OK, so I was so psyched when I found out what my wife and family got me for my Birthday today.

However when I have been telling people what I got I have been getting a mixed bag of responses.

Some think it was awesome and some think it is a complete waste of money and can't understand why anyone would want this.

So here it is:

For those that don't know they are tearing the old stadium down for a new one right next door.

I will always say this is my best present ever (well 2nd best, met the wife on the day after B-day) because of growing up there and being such a fan but I could see the WTF element of this.

If you like it then it's awesome :)
My friends mum bought him a brick in the wall of our new football stadium for Christmas one year. Whatever floats your boat :)

yea well, if it means something to you and your wife/family gave it to you
knowing how much it would mean to you then who the fuck cares what
    anyone else thinks.
I think it's pretty cool but you shouldn't care about what I think, either.

Well, I think it's cool and a very thoughtful gift. Happy Birthday! :)

I think it's an awesome gift and I'm not a sports fan even. The reason I think its an awesome gift is because she payed attention to what it is you like and I'm a believer that a gift should be something someone REALLY wants but wouldn't buy themselves. Its a wonderful thing u 2 have for her to know u so well and want to do that for you...I can only hope that I find someone that will be so into making me happy one day:)

Happy birthday from a Phillies fan :) Yes some of us really are nice :D

And I think it's an AWESOME gift. I wish I had a piece of the old Vet and that place sucked, but i have so many memories from there.

There's nothing more special than a gift that shows that the people who gave it really know where your heart is

    enjoy your day

  • Well... Shea Stadium is really sentimental in the minds of many New Yorkers, my dad grew up in Queens & he talks about Shea like it is his ACTUAL house... and talks about the Worlds Fair like it was 2 weeks ago, not 40 years.

So yeah, I can definitely see where this would be an awesome gift for a Mets fan.

if YOU think it's awesome then it IS awesome, period. whether other people *get* that or not. obviously, your wife and family knew what it would mean to you...so kudos to them for being so thoughtful and getting what they knew would be a kick-ass gift in your eyes! :)

enjoy it and happy, happy birthday!

btw - YOU gave yourself the most kick-ass birthday present that you will enjoy for your entire, now more than likely extended, lifetime; the gift of a smoke-free existence. :D good for you!

I think it's an awsome gift...even though the Mets suck and Shea Stadium is a dump...Anyway, all that matters is that you like it.

  • My wife and I decided to splurge and picked up a pair of seats about a month ago. We've also gotten mixed reactions from friends and family, but I just tell them all I think it's pretty cool, and that pretty much settles it.

We have a batting cage in the backyard and are planning to put the seats "on deck."

First of all, you loved it, so that makes it by definition and awesome birthday present. Second of all, I think it is awesome too because all the money is going to a foundation. That, right there makes up for all the doubts about it being too much money.
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

    Me too!!!

(Still don't have the cash for that)

But it would have been cool and think it is a cool present too!

One question... do the seats come with dried tears on them??? ;)

I got a pair of old Vet seats, so yes I think this is a cool gift. Well besides the fact that they are from Shea. Just kidding, you've guys been through enough pain the last two years, no need to rub it in.

That's an awesome gift. My dad has 2 seats from old Comiskey Park...I'm pretty sure they're his most cherished possession.
