did anyone see this history of tattoos thing on the history channel? At the end they were showing people getting their eyeballs tattooed. The first guy was getting a dot. yes a dot. he was getting his eyeball tattooed to get a dot. the second guy was getting his entire eyeballs colored in blue, and then getting ultraviolet stars that glow in black lights.

overall it was one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen.

  • This was featured in Bizarre magazine a few months back but it's been going on for a while. It's just people seeing how far they can push the limits.
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

I remember seeing something a while back about a guy getting his eyes done blue. The pictures looked pretty grose but it only showed the process not the finished results.

Sometimes people just want to be different. It's hurting no one else, so I'm happy to leave them to it.

oh yeah no one's saying they don't have a right to do whatever they want. but seriously I had to cover my eyes while watching this TV show!

and you do have to wonder if this guy is going to be so thrilled that his eyes are colored in blue in 10, 20 years. that kind of committment is hard to come by.

Oh I agree...it's not for me...I'm not particularly squeamish, but no thanks.

All tattoos are pretty permanent... but, to each their own.

I've got nothing against anyone doing it, I have a tattoo myself and think judging someone for having some ink on them is kind of pathetic but I do wonder about the reasons behind eyeball tattoos. There are plenty of body mods that I wouldn't want and I don't think look good but I can understand why someone else might. Eyeball tattoos just look so painful to get and end up looking kind of weird as opposed to aesthetically pleasing. How does the ink take after a few years? I can imagine eventually the "white" of the eye will just be a mass of colours after a few years?
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"

    I'm glad I didn't see that.

I'm still recovering from the show I saw once where people were having their tongues cut in half to be like snakes and other people were having themselves hung from hooks in their back skin. (OLd torture devices  )

What's wrong with these people that they need to mutilate themselves? :(

The technical (scmecnical) term is "front bottom". :p

I want to run an ad campaign for that program on the History Channel. It'd mostly revolve around the phrase "You won't believe their eyes!".

    all subjective I guess????

some people also do it because it's ugly I would guess, you know going against cultural norms, "anti-plastic surgery" if you will. certainly not MY cup of tea...

the hook thing is a form of eroticism...it's a little more involved than, say needle play.

*topic* the blue eye thing is pretty gnarly, but overall - the concern would be the effect to the ability to SEE...it seems like it is pretty risky to chance your sight for some visual "out of bounds" trend.

You gotta wonder why somebody would choose to look like that. It makes you question the difference between self-expression and attention seeking.
