So...weird things happening in my house tonight.

I have asthma and it was kinda bothering me a few hours ago so I decided to take a hot shower; sometimes that helps.

About 5 minutes into the shower the water turns off. The tap was still on and everything, the water just stopped. That happened a couple times.
Then the smoke detector went off. The one upstairs is too close to the bathroom and sometimes the steam sets it off so I didn't think anything of it at first, but it went on for a few minutes; usually it just goes for a few seconds and stops. So I got out of the shower and it was the smoke detector two levels down that was going off, for no apparent reason. After another minute or two it just stopped. But then the one upstairs started and went for a few minutes.
I just moved into this house so I thought that maybe the old people hadn't changed the batteries for a while or something so I changed them all, but they still keep randomly going off on different floors.

And now my TV turns off about every ten minutes.

And there's a weird guy standing on the corner outside.

I hate creepy old houses.

  • Ghost?
  • yeah, the house is definitely haunted.

  • are you sure they're just smoke detectors, and not also CO2 detectors? Also, some smoke detectors are linked. If one goes off, it sends a signal to all other detectors in the house to go off. Which is pretty smart, actually

No, they're smoke detectors. They're super old as well. I think I'm going to have to get them replaced or something.
I'm about to pull a Phoebe on them...I have to work in 6 hours and there's no way I'm getting to sleep anytime soon if this keeps up.

Keep us informed if you see any ghosts!;):D

I didn't believe in ghosts until I worked on a movie that shot at the Linda Vista Hospital in East L.A. So many scary things happened at that place... especially in the morgue down in the basement. That place changed my whole view on ghosts.
Whoa, chill bro... you know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.
  • When one goes off all of them go off with newer ones.
    I'll be back
  • They're old. When I get over this cold I'm going to replace them.

When I got home from the Dr. today there were 2 lamps on and the shower was running

  • Some smoke detectors have a "reset" button on them that should be pressed after each activation.

Water turns off? Check that well pump!
    Hold On
  • based on extensive movie watching experience i think you should stay in the house as long as possible and head towards any suspicious noises with the lights off whenever the opportunity arises

Anyone see the movie The Strangers? A little drawn out, but not that bad for a horror movie.

I read that the story is based off of Helter Skelter and some guy that came into the director's house when he was a child.

he'll tap the old guy on the shoulder and when he turns around he wont have a human face

but i agree... theres only one way to find out

oh and if theres anyway you can put the life of a child in danger that will make this scenario even better

nah.. it's based on an extremely gruesome murder of a family and a friend that happened in a small camping town in Northern California near Tahoe. Like sgossard3 said.. the movie is just inspired by it, and doesn't really resemble what actually happened in that cabin.

I'll take you word on it then. I just read an interview with the director and he said he based it on Helter Skelter mostly.

Well you're probably right as well.

I watched a show on TV that said the movie was inspired by this:
    http://www.asylumeclectica.com/asylum/sightseer/us/ca/keddie.htm

.. but the director probably used the Helter Skelter theme to add his own style to it, since it obviously didn't resemble the events that happened in the Keddie Cabin.

what's with the guy standing on the street corner?
is it a true fact or is that just thrown in the story to make it creepier?
(reminds me of the movie Strangers)

either way your house sounds like it is indeed inhabited by a spirit or three.

    He really was/is there.
He finally left around 5am, he'd been standing there for hours.
And now he's standing at the same place again with a laundry basket at his feet...it's freezing rain out right now, like hardcore freezing rain.
    Still, he just stands there.

If he's there again tomorrow, or if it stops being shitty out, I think I'll go talk to him.

He's about 3 houses down, on the corner of the street...just looking down the street towards my house.

Crazies seem to like me though. It's happened countless times where I'll be downtown at the coffee shop with friends and there will be a crazy doing crazy things and they'll everntually just come up to me and start a conversation lol. Like, a more or less normal conversation.

There's this one guy in the town I used to live in that everone called "Beat the Meat" because if he heard you say anything that sounded like meat, he start motioning like he was jacking off.
Then one day I was downtown waiting for a bus and he just came up to me and asked for some change.
There were some younger teens (I was about 18 then) and they kept saying beat the meat to see if he'd do it. He just looks at them, looks at me, rolls his eyes and says "Kids these days", and starts talking to me about when he went to Italy with his dad when he was a kid.
Then he thanked me for the change and walked away. After a few feet, he started making that famous hand motion...
