What is this podcast about HushBull ? Being someone who does not live in America, but yet is so interested in American history/American politics, and one who subscribes to a number of American news/commentary podcasts, I have heard this mentioned a number of times but yet do not know what it is about.

    Can you enlighten me ?

It's an hour long radio show hosted by Ira Glass, produced in Chicago. There is also a television show which I believe is done in essentially the same format, though I have never seen it. Each show has a general theme they play off of, from pop culture to politics, and every social kink in between. The show is presented in 3 to 4 acts and seems to come alive from the first person narrative the pieces are generally told in. It is America, %100. I highly enjoy it and would recommend it to most people.

I think you will really enjoy This American Life, based on your list. It's a little more light hearted, but it still maintains a high level of concise questioning and learning provided. I use itunes to download podcasts, so my list is limited to the ones they provide. I subscribe to most stuff on Public Radio International, http://www.pri.org/ also many shows on National Public Radio are great,http://www.npr.org/.
A few others, but those are probably the ones you would be the most interested in.
Oh, also, Real Time w/ Bill Maher is available in the HBO section.
