ever just not have the desire to do something you have always loved?

for me its playing music live. i just figured out, that i have been on a stage just 3 times this year.

and i dont really miss it. i mean the few hours on stage are missed at times, but not all the other shit.

i've been happy just recording my "opus" which i dont think i would be able to do much with live anyway. cause then i would have to put another band together and BLAH !!!

i'm happy with occasional show here and there. usually a "special" event type of thing.

sorry for the ramble, just got me thinking.

anyone else lose that "desire" for someting they love?
Peace, Love.

I sometimes lose my desire to go snowboarding, which is my favorite outdoor activity.

But then once I go up I have a blast (if the snow is good ;) )

I loved basketball, and was pretty damn good at it. Would practice by myself outside, every day, no matter the weather. That's when I wasn't playing. But by 13 I was burnt out. Took too much out of me. Never got back to it.

i lost a desire to live, everything that comes my way goes tainted, everything seems to be a struggle.

in this and last year alone, i lost desire to learn guitar, to draw and was getting fed up with music..........

i'm recovering though, my love for music never left me, i feel starved now yesterday discovered thrash band Overkill and stayed up all night until 4 in the morning ( yes, i'm not working at the moment so i can allow myself to do this )
and my fuck buddy asked me to draw a picture for him, which maybe i should've declined because in my opinion he doesn't deserve such gesture from me, but then i thought fuck it, it's my opportunity to see if i am still able to draw and concentrate for long enough to finish the picture, and so far i'm doing pretty well, at one point i devoted my whole day to drawing :)

Yes. I might be able to say that I "hate" my store. I don't even think it is due to the economy. For 6 years, I have loved, loved, loved it. Now, I dread going in.

I don't think this is a funk I am going to come out of. :(
I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

things just got strange with my band when i was divorced. my ex's brother was the guitar player.

we never officially "broke up" or anything, just kinda stopped playing for a while.

then i started writing and recording my own record, and that has been an on again off again project. ( thats a whole other story )

anyway, for awhile i missed it tons, now im just so wrapped up in being in the studio, that i just dont think about playing live.

i've only played live 3 times this year, but the year b4 we had over 200 shows.

maybe i just needed a break from it.

Yes. Playing video games.. When I was a kid, I loved them. I still want to love them. I cant tell you how many games I bought in my 20s that I never played. It's almost like a hobby now just to collect them and reminisce about my childhood.

Hey! I don't know if you remember me, but we had a great time last weekend when we stayed up all night and you posted the Eddie, Todd & Kyle Thread with George Carlin. I hope your feeling better about things. I know you made me laugh my ass off :D . I didn't realize you were a musician on the Carlin thread. I want to wish you good luck. I hope you get the desire back :)

of course i remember that night ! lol

the desire will come when i have a reason to play out again.

i just have to get through this very self indulgent 3 album concept thing im recording. it has kinda taken over my life for the past 2 years. lol

well that and the book im also writing at the same time. i just go back and forth from one to the other. when i start to feel burned out on one, i go to the other. :)

so im pretty busy most of the time lol.

    keeps me outta trouble.

but seems to cause so much more trouble then i could really get into ;)

    thanks though.
    Peace, Love.

Sounds like you've got a lot on your plate...just take your time and do whatever draws you in the most...it's like what you said to me in my Happiness Thread, just let it happen (something like that :) ) it will happen for you when the time is right...you can't think about it too much..seems like your keeping yourself busy ;)

    lol

yeah, pretty busy. lol. when i think of the time i have spent here, instead of working on these projects, it kinda makes me sick!! lol

but im having fun doing it. ive recorded the same songs 3 to 5 times so i can pick the best, or mix the different ideas together.

thats a lot of recording since we are talking 36 different songs ! plus , i dont know how to stop writing songs !!! so im always recording new songs, and replacing old ones that i think i want on the records then change my mind.

my friends are calling it my "the wall" or even worse, my "chinese democracy" lol i hope not, considering that took 14 years to make !!! lol
    Peace, Love.
