I think that your brother in law may be just like my brother. I do not miss his vile, racist, red neck ass one bit.

    Happy Holidays!
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

if you know how it will go, why do you talk politics?

I am the only non-liberal at my work and nobody knows. Why? Because if I told them I would lose my shifts. How open-minded is that? Anytime they start talking politics I leave the room. I plan on taking election day off...
I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.
  • How long would it take to find enough snails to fill a pillow anyways?
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

Dude, it's not an in-law, but I ran into a similar problem Friday night. I went to a buddy's house whom I hadn't seen in years. I'm really good friends with his brother, who was in town from Seattle. It was a pretty small gathering, maybe eight people or so, and I saw an old friend from high school. We caught up with each other and then he whips out his cell phone to show me some "jokes" his fellow contractor buddies sent him. The first piece of hilarity was a pic of several Klan members with the words "Original Boys in the Hood" emblazoned over the image. The audio was some guy with a very pronounced Southern accent talking about stabbing "this nigger in the head." I never figured out the joke. He brought up a couple other "jokes" and I finally politely said, "Excuse me," and walked away. I guess I should have called him on his bullshit, but I was a pussy and didn't want to fuck up a dinner party, especially when my friend whom I talk to at least once a month was in town for the first time in a few years. I just don't get people sometimes.

actually i try not to talk politics with him. i will if we are alone, but not in front of people.

and i let it go for about 25 min. i even got up and went outside to throw a football around with my other "non-redneck" brother-in-law, and my nephew, we went back in about 45 min. later and the conversation was still going on.

Now, the problem was this, he was talking with someone in my family that is very NON political. so it was basically him speaking his views as if they were fact, and he was throwing numbers, and statistics around that were just WRONG. so i made the mistake of correcting him. i even showed he and all involved in the conversation, where he was wrong. The sunday morning news paper happenend to be laying on the table, and i had read it already, and i knew that many of the numbers and statistics he was spouting off, i knew they were in the paper. so i read them to everyone. that was all i intended to do. but that sucked me in.
anyway, i dont care that he is conservative in many ways, thats not what bothers me, its his total lack of respect for anyone that is not white , and american. again its the ignorance that makes my blood boil.
    Peace, Love.

There is no arguing with dumb asses....just IGNORE them! My family is full of idiots....do what I've learned to do, just smile politely and don't feed in to their BS.

Don't stand for that BS... I know it can be frustrating to argue against it, but you're fighting the good fight.

two things i DO NOT discusss with my da:

    palestinians

the bombing of hiroshima & nagasaki.

our stands are polar opposites and i like the man too much to listen to what he has to say. :)
    hear my name
    take a good look
    this could be the day
    hold my hand
    lie beside me
    i just need to say
  • I avoid political arguements like the plague. Sure I have my views, but I keep them to myself. You could say I'm very Conservative about my Liberal views :P

Either way, for reasons demonstrated by the first post, I keep out of all this. Political views seem to be something that turns people against the individual, which is kinda harsh.
    no matter where you go,
