They've been warning us of a purge, but I thought I was following the rules and not clogging the network drives. My work computer was kind of my unofficial backup to my home computer . I just sent an email plea to I.T. to see if I can get my stuff back but a) it's Veteran's Day and they don't work and b) I seriously doubt it.
Crap!!!! I had all kinds of great PJ cover art and photos. Well, live and learn. At least there was nothing incriminating!

Social awareness does not equal political activism!
5/23/2011- An utter embarrassment... ticketing failures too many to list.
Now you tell me!
Yeah, I knew that all along. When they delete stuff, does it go into a black hole or do you think there's any chance they'll "give" it back?

If the data was stored in an external server with regular backups, they might be able to restore the data, but it can be really time consuming. I doubt the IT people might wanna go through all that trouble just to save some PJ memorabillia (I would ).
If the data was stored in your PC, you can retrieve those deleted files by using a tool called EnCase.
We "IT Nazis" are just that for a reason. We had someone who we just laid off that was using our network drive as her own personal picture playground. 8GB worth of space. That's a shitload for our server which is about 4 years old.
Got to keep that network running smooth.
P.S. for Stone is God - why don't they just limit the size of the folder I was using? Everyone gets one...."My Documents"

Did they actually come to your CPU and delete it?
My company's network is set up is that everyone has a shortcut to the network folder that is titled by their name. All files are saved to the server and backed up nightly to an external tape drive.
When you say "My Documents" it actually makes me think that you were saving it to the C drive on your work station. In that case you have the amounts of free space on your work station HD to fill up.
we are Nazis on deleting stuff that should not be there!
store in on the local drive of your work computer if you must but flash drives are cheap as chips!
