Devious Mickey D's

While some might say the preponderance of minorities in the McDonald's commercials represent some type of racial enlightenment, I would suggest that devious Mickey D is only trying to further hook African Americans on greasy, unhealthy food.

McDonald's exec: "Let's start a hip-hop ad campaign to target those people who already suffer from more heart disease and high blood pressure than the rest of the population." Other exec nods thoughtfully and says "I liiiiiiiiiiiiike it!"

Fucking McDonalds!

I went for a long time not eating McDonald's, but you pretty much have to admit it's the best fast food out there. The rest are unhealthier and more expensive.

All he is getting at is mass manipulation from companies who wheel and deal death. Should we also take it easy on a cigarette company targeting all the 16 year olds they know smoke?

*Me and my pup shared some nuggets and fries at 4 in the morning a few nights ago, nothing better. :D

There are a few of us in the South. I know this one guy who said he liked that one song of theirs. Then I clarified that I said Pearl Jam and not That Girl Pam.
    Very confusing....

McDonald's sucks. (Duh.) Your story reminds me of one I heard about Thunderbird wine and I won't get this totally right -

Years ago the Gallo people noticed lemon Kool-Aid packets were being sold beside some cheap sherry (?) in low income neighborhoods so they got the idea to make some kind of cheap lemon-flavored wine and sell it as Thunderbird. To increase consumer awareness of their new product, they took empty bottles and scattered them in gutters and on the streets of these same low income neighbrhoods. And came up with the catchy slogan - what's the word, Thunderbird.

    Classy, hunh?

Yeah, but they try to do it a disguised, We Are The World, kumbaya manner . They should just say "we know y'all are already hooked on this shit - consume mass quantities." :D

Fer Christ sake. Of course they're targetting advertising. That is how it is done. If an advertiser isn't targeting a specific demographic with a specific ad, they're going to be fired. MacDonald's has the hip hop ad for certain communities, certain channels on TV at certain time slots. They also have an ad for their coffee products which show pretentious yuppies letting their hair down and taking off their glasses, knowing that they don't have to do the coffee shop scene anymore and can just be a regular person at MacDonald's. I'm sure there are 20 different ad campaigns that they're using at any given time targetting different demographics. This doesn't mean they're doing anything devious, underhanded or racist. If one doesn't produce results, they'll try something else. Welcome to advertising 101.

Fuck! I always see the first but have never seen the latter. I either need to move to a better "community" or start watching the pretentious yuppie channel! :D
