Wife decided to join the pit after looking over my shoulder for a while and now having some unexpected time off she's become a monster.

    i would NEVER want my husband to post here!
    he knows ALL about it, everything...maybe too much :o....has met many of my 'friends' from here....has no qualms about me traveling and meeting others, etc......but sure, this is my sanctuary. he has his bass site, i have here. it's all good. every couple needs their space, even out in cyberspace. :D

    i do know of a few couple who post here, but more often than not even if that's the case.....one of the couple posts more often, or sticks around longer, and the other visits occasionally at best. even amongst couples whose relationships began here, if they don't both disappear, one of em usually takes a hiatus. i just do truly believe we all need to have some *space* outside of our marital/love relationships.


    and hey, i love the porch.....most of the forums...but the AET is the place to let your cyber-hair down, ya know? i share enough with my better half. :p

    true. Shes been home because of some Medical stuff. nothing too serious but lotta free time on her hands.

    Right now she a bigger fan of the fans than the music (so far). would like for her to gain an appreciation though so it will be easier to go to shows.

    aha yes...that can make it addicting. years ago when i first joined up - different moniker - i didn't understand how easily one could wrack up a lot of posts. i was actually a member almost a year with under 1k posts, hard to believe i know, for those who know me all these years. :p then, i got really sick, coupled with the christmas holidays - i was teaching at the time - and i amost doubled my post count in under 2 weeks. :o that was it, i was hooked.


    btw - my husband turned ME on to pj, and now my love of their music far eclipses his. :p he still really likes em, will hit up a couple shows...but sure, i see pj with more friends, around the world, without him...and he's totally cool with it. every couple has to find their balance. :) so sure, try to get her a fan of the music, but don't drag her to too many shows if she doesn't get crazy over em. i know that would simply end in resentment with my hubby. 3 is his limit, and even for me...i like 3 with him, and if i hit up others..go with friends. nothing should ruin your marriage, nor a pearl jam concert. :D

    That is what I see happening. It's nice to come and visit, but since I'm not a huge fan, this really is his fun place to be. I have other computer things I enjoy doing that he has no interest in, so there is some balance.

    that said, i agree....it's great to have common interests, but it's also great to have some space. balance is key.

    My wife would never join. She doesn't get the message board concept. I think if she gave it a try, she'd be hooked, but then again, she is not a big PJ fan.

    I don't think it would bother me if she joined.....I need more people to convince her that Pearl Jam is great!

    and certain topics could raise red flags in a partner like...why are you asking or thinking about THAT? :p it's just too ripe for riffs or rows.....we all need our space to vent or think aloud sans spouses. :D

    thus why certin time periods during the year i disappear for awhile....and sure, i am not here all day....i do on occasion actually have some work to do. ;)


    seriously...i am merely sharing my own personal perspective, my views on this place...obviously different people will have different pov. thankfully, my husband and i are on the same page in this thinking. sure, i have at times pointed things out on this site for him that i thought he'd find of interest.....and he's done the same with his fave sites. obviously, either one of us could easily join in on the other's board...but neither one of us have that desire. obviously, you and yours do. different perspectives.




    btw - i personally do not find work to be the place for that. sure, a couple colleagues, but overall, i keep my private thoughts and business out of my professional life, and i prefer it that way. quite honestly, i am quite private publicly here as well, but PMs, real friendships...different. none the less, even outwardly on the board, i just like having space seperate from my married life. for me, it's healthy...for others.....we all make our own choices! :)


    so sure, i hope you BOTH enjoy it here!

    ok , me being a hunt and peck kinda guy I find it difficult to play a silly game when she can type circles around me.

    And I guess I started with a more serious tone than I intended. within the first 24 hours she has 64 posts.

    Yes I do realize that once she's back to herself, she won't have as much time to be here.Full time job , Part time law student.


    Truth be told I am at heart a sarcastic ....... insert any derogatory term you like.

    And she loves me anyway.
