About as normal and non-dramatic as anyone could imagine.

My mother is a little overbearing (who's isn't?), but they are great... Very caring and generous.

The family that I'm related to by blood is generally laid back and caring. The family that I'm related to by marriage is caring, but a couple are a little bit crazy....

Amen! My family is way fucked up. I think in order to be normal in America you have to have a fucked up family. My wife's family is very close and her parents are still married but they are weird b/c they are somewhat normal. No, they are really weird. My bro in law is 32, married with a baby and makes realy good money but yet he lives at home with his parents. Him and his wife live in his bed room. WTF? He and i are the same age and are completely different people. We have nothing in common.
As for my family, simply way fucked up, I don't have the time.

my family is psycho! everyone thinks they're right and everyone else is wrong. everyone thinks they're a saint and wants to expose everyone else's faults, sins, hypocrisy, etc......well, not everyone of them, but the majority. i think i'm just going to choose a select few and keep them as my family and be done with the rest.

I'm closest with my Mom and my In-Laws if you can believe that

My wife's parents have been married over 30 yrs she comes from a nice family up bringing

My bro and I used to be close until he married the psycho bitch..she has mangaged to ruin just about every relationship my bro had with his family

nobody's family makes sense to anyone but them. whatever story you give about your family's craziness, your friend will have one that can one-up it or compare to it. what it amounts to is all families have lame gossip and drama and pettiness and resentment. it's just a matter of how involved you are. i ignore my gf when she gets rolling on family drama becos i couldn't care less. and i ignore my family drama as well, but it's not crazy and the only reason we think it is is becos we're so invested in these people. the same things you would shrug off other people doing get blown and twisted into epic shakespearan tragedy when done by your own family.

my daddy grew up in england in the 1970's and went to a shitload of concerts, smoked a lot, drank a lot, experimented a lot
my mother grew up in mexico city and has never been drunk, has never smoked anything, and was a total school nerd
they separated when i was in 6th grade, didn't really have an impact on my brother and i- they never fought or anything, just didn't love each other
my older brother dropped out of college and sits at home and smokes pot all day, but has an amazing ear for hip-hop and underground music and is great with cars and computers
i'm a mix of all three of them :)

Oh boy oh boy.. is this the thread to air dirty laundry, or what?? haha..

My Mom - She was super awesome, a very close friend to me for years, and it all went to shit when her and my dad split up when I was 21. She started getting totally into herself and online dating. She became really mean to my brother and I, and recently the icing on the cake came when she called me out for not spending enough money on her birthday, and I haven't spoken to her in a month.

My Dad - He is cool. He's very active. He's a hang glider pilot in his free time, and an active skier. He likes to travel and practice photography. He's CRAZY smart. He got a perfect score on the GREs. He works very hard.

My Brother - He's very stubborn, but hysterically funny. He's 17, going to be a SR in High School, and trying to apply to college as far away from home as possible. He does not get along with my mom in the slightest. He thinks everyone is lame, and that he is god's gift to the ladies. He's very smart and does well in school. We didn't get along growing up, and I feel that is a result of my mother pushing him away and latching on to me. We find a common ground now discussing how insane our mother is. He works at a Hoagie shop and makes Hoagies and Cheesesteaks all day. He is obsessed with snowboarding. He was very sick in November and almost didn't make it, but made a full recovery, and is fine now.

My Mother and Father in Law - They are such simple people. They love to camp on the beach of a lake and drink beer. My father in law makes bullets by hand, and then shoots them all. And my mother in law spends hours talking to her dogs, and cooking seriously fattening food. They hate cities, and came to visit us once, and refused to ever come back. They make fun of me because I don't eat red meat. My FIL is a Pharmacist and my MIL is a Special Education Aide.

My Sister in Law - We have the same exact name, minus the H in Sarah. She is 6 months older than me. She is a personal trainer, but in bad shape. She runs lots of 5k, but smokes 2 packs a day, and a whole lot of pot. She could drink anyone under the table. She is chronically unlucky in love, due to her choices in men. She always makes plans to come to Chicago, but never follows through. She is pretty flaky, but fun when you're actually hanging out with her.

    Father - dead
Older brother - A Republican in Alaska (so basically dead to me)
Mother - Great lady, rarely talk to her
Step Father - Good man, almost never talk to him
Younger brother - my main man and drummer in my band

Rest of family - might all be dead as far as I know.

My family is hilarious, inconsistant, loveable, loyal, usually hardworking and there for me when I want them to be.
